Mill Street Café is located in the village of Sydenham, a pleasant fifteen-minute drive north of the 401 highway. We are directly across from Trousdales, one of the oldest continuously operating general stores in Canada.

At Mill Street Café we work hard to create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, upscale but unpretentious. Weathered copper table tops, restored wooden cabinetry and a treasured collection of antique fixtures help to create a warm and unique space.

Most restaurants begin their daily preparations with ingredients from wholesale suppliers. Mill Street Café is different. Here the chef's first task might be to find out what is ready and at peak flavour from the gardens. The farmer's recommendation might include fresh arugula or 'Gold Marie' European slicing beans or 'Brandywine' heritage tomatoes or even oak-log grown shiitake mushrooms. These are only a few of the many possible selections available from our sister farming operation, Desert Lake Gardens. At Mill Street café we begin paying attention to food quality weeks and months before the meal appears on your plate.

While we are strong advocates of a local, environmentally gentle way of eating, we also want to enjoy the best and most delicious foods. Seasonal, garden fresh, local ingredients ensure not only clean, virtuous meals but also the most flavourful ones, to be enjoyed in the company of friends and community.

We begin with the best ingredients and continue under the guidance of our talented chef, Derrick Zimmerman.
